RadonIs your home at an elevated risk for radon? If you live in Ringwood or West Milford you will soon be able to find out...for free.

The Passaic County Health Department and the Department of Environmental Protection have teamed up to create an awareness program promoting radon testing in homes. Outreach assistance is bring provided by the DEP to support household radon testings.

New Jersey has provided the necessary funds to offer a limited amount of free radon test kits. Ringwood and West Milford are being targeted because the risks are highest in these rocky, mountainous towns.

Test kits will be available on a first come first serve basis. To reserve your test kit, contact Allessio at 973.225.3651. Arrangements will then be made to pick up your test kit at the Ringwood or West Milford health departments. 

Why test for radon?

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer. Approximately 21,000 deaths occur each year in the U.S. due to radon. There is no safe level of radon to be safe and reserve your test kit today. Even if you have tested in the past, it is recommended to retest.
