Pompton Lakes is a suburban community in Passaic County that lies between Interstate 287 and Pompton Lake. With three rivers running through this borough, beautiful scenery and recreational opportunities can be found in one’s own backyard.
More than 10,000 residents live in Pompton Lakes, and the borough’s convenient location on the outskirts of Newark, New Jersey, make it a popular home for many commuters. The Ramapo, Pequannock and Wanaque rivers provide an endless source of fun for residents who enjoy any number of water sports such as boating and fishing. Several parks, including those along the rivers’ banks, offer ball fields, playgrounds and picnic areas as well as sponsor various athletic teams year round.
Even though it is a small community, Pompton Lakes can compete with any city when it comes to providing its residents with anything and everything they need. The borough’s charming downtown area is home to any number of businesses including specialty shops, restaurants, small offices and an assortment of other local services. In light of the county’s efforts to work on major revitalization projects within Pompton Lakes, the community as a whole has supported the improvements while continuing to maintain its close-knit, family-friendly atmosphere.

Youth Sporting Activities Pompton Lakes sports organizations are unique in the sense that they are independently managed by the individual organization, which is separate from the Pompton Lakes Recreation Commission. These organizations offer parents the opportunity to become actively involved by volunteering time to help manage, coach, assist with field care, lend a hand at snack stands or be the team Mom or Dad while at the same time spending quality time with their children. These organizations are committed to promoting good sportsmanship and teaching the fundamentals of the sport.
